Christopher Mebane Joins Hughes Watters Askanase L.L.P.
HOUSTON, Texas (Sept. 15, 2010) - Christopher Mebane has joined Hughes Watters Askanase, L.L.P. (www.hwa.com) as an associate in the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Area.
Mebane focuses his practice on the representation of banks, mortgage servicing companies and other lenders in various aspects of consumer financial services litigation.
“Hughes Watters Askanase appealed to me because I wanted to work with a close-knit group of attorneys who support each other and work well together as a team. HWA will give me the opportunity to work on intellectually challenging cases. I will also have ample opportunities to interact with and learn from experienced and accessible partners as well as other associates,” explained Mebane.
Prior to joining HWA in August 2010, Mebane worked in the Houston office of Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell, L.L.P. as a commercial litigation associate where he focused on banking, mortgage, real estate, and energy litigation for five years.

Mebane was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2003. Prior to graduating magna cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center in May 2003, Mebane graduated from Duke University with Bachelor of Arts degrees in both economics and political science. He also earned a certificate in markets and management from Duke University in 1997.
As a student at the University of Houston Law Center, Mebane served as articles editor for The Houston Law Review. He also was inducted into the Order of the Coif, an honorary scholastic society for law students. In 2002, Mebane received the John M. O’Quinn Foundation Award for writing the most outstanding paper on constitutional law. This paper was published in The Houston Law Review.
Mebane is an active member of the Houston Bar Association, participating in the LegalLine community service outreach program.
